Okay, first of all, let me say that someone who can make an awesome Biryani or a fantastic cake is perfectly capable of making a terrible Sabudana Khichadi.
So when, Hansal Mehta, who made Shahid and Citylights makes Buckingham Murders you shouldn’t hold that against him.
The movie starts at a deadly slow pace and then becomes slower, if that was even possible.
Everyone and that means absolutely everyone in the star cast is bad.
Kareena Kapoor looks like an overripe tomato going bad with time, as they have tried to go with a no make up look.
But it’s not about how she looks, that’s always secondary, she has probably given one of her worst performances here.
She looks as lost as you will feel when you watch the movie.
The script itself plays out like a mix between Crime Patrol and a documentary, though Crime Patrol is much more thrilling at times.
The plot is mundane and stupid. They have simply tried to keep the “suspense” by misleading hints and then suddenly springing a surprise at the end with a motive that seems quite implausible.
To top that they have thrown in the LGBTQ angle, the abala naari angle, the abused housewife angle, the drugs, the communal tensions and it’s all done so randomly that none of it sticks.
It’s almost like they were sitting and going “Accha wo Sikh Muslim wala angle daalo…..haan….and make the dude gay”…..did it have any correlation to the story……NO
The production values of the movie are lower than NFDC telefilms and the camerawork is absolutely tacky.
The only saving grace of this movie is that it ends…..phew.
#DaMoRating: 1/10
Disclaimer: The 1 point is given to Kareena Kapoor’s make up man for making her look so bad that all the three day old vegetables in your fridge would have looked better
