Stree 2 is the 4th installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, directed by Amar Kaushik.
And as things would have it, the supernatural universe gets worse and worse.
The movie is one more entry into the genre of “horror-comedy” where the horror is funny and the comedy is horrifying.
The “Sarkata” looks like John Abraham wearing a Halloween costume with CGI to assist him.
The visuals are hardly scary and honestly, even Ramsay had done a better job than this in the 90s.
The jokes are juvenile and thoughtless.
The writing is lazy and the only intention seemed to be getting the other characters from the universe into the movie by hook or crook and that too randomly.
The Bhediya jumps in from nowhere, the original Stree makes an entry, just like that.
Nothing makes sense.
To top that, towards the end there are cutscenes after cutscenes for no rhyme or reasons.
Rajkumar Rao seems repetitive and so does Pankaj Tripathi. It’s the same act all over again with zero variations.
Honestly I don’t even understand how this movie got a 7+ rating on the IMDb.
Instead of spending money on getting high reviews on IMDb, I wish the makers had actually spent money on their writers to have a good script written.
Stree 2 at the best manages to shatter their own Supernatural Universe that Maddock Films had created for themselves.
I, however, think, the kids aged 7-10 might find this movie a wee bit funny, it looks like it is made by someone in that age range.
#DaMoRating: 3/10
Disclaimer: 2 points are given to Tamannaah Bhatia for looking awesome in “Aaj Ki Raat” and 1 point is for whoever thought “Okay let’s make Stree 2”, that type of courage is pointworthy though shouldn’t be encouraged
