The plot is stolen (okay, adapted). Even the title is stolen from an old Rishi Kapoor movie.
The star cast seems frivolous. The trailer made it look like a slapstick comedy. And it has Akshay Kumar.
So basically I went about watching this movie with Zero expectations and then was giggling throughout it.
Yes the movie has been adapted from The Perfect Strangers (which I had watched before) but the adaptation has been done really well.
Unlike usual Bollywood adaptations they haven’t totally screwed up a good write.
The cast is definitely frivolous but it works. Fardeen Khan is pleasant to watch and Taapsee Pannu s comic timing is spot on.
Taapsee manages to get you guffawing in the most serious situation and it’s by design.
The star of the movie is the script. The story basically seems to have written itself and flows fabulously.
The humour is seamless.
Ofcourse, it’s not a masterpiece in comedy but it’s totally watchable.
Yeah, there are a few social issue angles in the movie and a monologue of Akshay Kumar in the end to highlight this but that’s pretty much meh.
If you plan to sit back and relax in the evening and have a light laugh, this would be a good movie to have on your screens.
#DaMoRating: 6/10
Disclaimer: Points have been cut for the monologue of Akshay Kumar….that was like someone stealing the cherry off the top of your cake. Uff why?
