I really like Alia Bhatt and have been in awe of her right since her act in Udta Punjab.
I always thought she is one actress who would look convincing in any role.
Karan Johar and Vasan Bala probably took this too personally, said “Challenge Accepted” and made Jigra.
Jigra is a run of the mill story where the younger brother gets arrested in a fictitious country and the elder sister (Alia) sets out to rescue him.
The premise is set pretty early in the movie where Alia moves about with an expressionless face to show how strong and resolute she is……doesn’t work.
And then the rest of the movie is excruciatingly painfully slow.
I mean its not just the plot that’s slow, every scene is slowed down so much that it needs a lot of Jigra to not reach for the ffwd button.
Alia is totally unconvincing in her role as she suddenly becomes Sunny Deol and thrashes everyone who comes in her way, including the entire Police of Hansh Dao.
Hanshi Dao, the fictitious small island country looks like all it has is a few houses, a large prison and a bank of generators. So I wonder why anyone would go to that country on a business trip, but never mind.
Much of the plot doesn’t make sense.
The performances are terrible.
The only one who connects with you is Manoj Pahwa. He is brilliant but then everytime he comes on the screen the BGM goes stupid and that irritates you.
Over the movie is just a terrible waste of time but I would highly recommend you to watch this movie, because…..why should only I waste my time
#DaMoRating: 1/10
Disclaimer: The 1 point is given to Karan and Vasan for proving me wrong and showing me that Alia cannot carry every role.
