Vettaiyan is the latest offering from TJ Gnanavel whose last movie Jai Bhim was a super super success.

In this movie Gnanavel tries to talk about the moral dilemma behind encounter killings, wait no sorry, drugs in school, no coaching class scams, no no, Chinese mafia ah well no, encounter killings again.

Rajnikanth plays Rajnikath who is a super cop (because he is a super everything and cannot be a normal person) but this time instead of throwing ciggies in his mouth he throws sunglasses over his spectacles and makes a spectacle out of it (sorry couldn’t resist khi khi).

So he likes to kill criminals instead of arresting them and Amitabh Bachchan plays a judge who goes like “T5134575 – This is not good”.

And then there is a 2 hrs 40 mins of action where numerous people are killed as Rajnikanth tries to arrest the Education scamster cum Chinese mafia controller, cum drug supplier, cum whatever else you can think of.

Rana Daggubati plays the scamster and gets to snarl like Bhallaldev only this time he doesn’t have his famous gaddaa (mace not donkey).

And finally we have Fahad Faasil, who does a fantastic impression of Yogi Babu in a role which looked like it was written for Yogi Babu.

Oh yeah, there are some female characters in the movie too, who do their bit and disappear in a few minutes, but nothing worth mentioning.

On the bright side, the movie is fast paced and the action is typical Rajni style, where he is an indestructible force which even Gods can’t touch.

The bgm is pretty good and doesn’t break your ear drums and lifts up the movie.

And the story, albeit convoluted is not all that bad. I mean, atleast someone took an effort to write down the plot even if it was written on the back of a tissue paper.

As far as Rajnikanth’s recent movies go, this one is slightly better than his last few offerings.

As far as movies go, this one is a legit waste of time.

The movie is available in multiple languages, including the original Tamil and in Hindi with subtitles in English.

#DaMoRating: 23/10

Disclaimer: Rajni threw his sunglasses on his spectacles 23 times in the movie and they didn’t fall down even once, so all these 23 points are given for that. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›
